Western Branch Canadian Psychoanalytic Society | Extension Program
Vancouver Island Psychoanalytic Interest Group
September 2014 – June 2015
The Western Branch of the Canadian Psychoanalytic Society is pleased to offer a third course focusing on the analytic process and experience of the analytic couple in the session.
In Series I participants reviewed a wide range of theories and concepts that explored analytic process. In Series II participants read articles on transference-countertransference and applied their understanding of the unfolding of analytic process by discussing two clinical cases. Series III will encourage participants to learn about primitive intrapsychic processes as understood and illuminated by post-Kleinian thought; as well as explore enactments and related phenomena as they are used to bring to light the inner worlds of the patient and of the analyst.
Required and Recommended Readings
Participants will be provided with emailed copies of the journal articles required for the course. In addition to the journal articles assigned the text used for the course is Doubt, Conviction and the Analytic Process by Michael Feldman.
